India outlines efforts to de-risk aircraft leasing and financing

India has taken steps to boost its aviation finance and aircraft leasing regime in recent years. Renewed efforts to develop a globally competitive offering were evident at the inaugural meeting of the Indian Government's committee tasked with developing an aviation finance regime that can support the rapid expansion of the subcontinent's aviation sector by reducing financing risks for lessors and financiers. Tax reforms, regulatory frameworks and the availability of financing, including the possibility of rupee-financing for aircraft, featured in the discussions.

Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance establishes Chinese leasing platform

The move will see Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance, the spare engine leasing JV between Rolls-Royce and GATX, become the first international company to set up a direct aircraft engine leasing company in China. The new leasing platform will be established in Tianjin and will lease engines as well as provide asset management and full lifecycle services and will support RRPF's expansion in the Chinese market.

AerCap authorises latest share buyback programme

The board of AerCap has approved a share repurchase programme that increases the lessor's authorised repurchases by $1 billion. Share repurchases have long been a favoured channel to return value to shareholders – for instance in 2025 it bought back 22.1 million shares at an average price of $109.92 per share. This latest programme was approved on 16th September and runs until the end of June 2027.

Neuberger launches $2 billion aviation finance platform

Neuberger Specialty Finance is joining up with a team of three aviation and asset finance specialists to jointly establish a structured debt platform. It is the latest move into the aviation finance space by a global investment manager, and the platform will not only target aircraft but all parts of the aviation and aerospace ecosystem according to one of its co-founders. Earlier this year Neuberger teamed up with DAE to launch a $6 billion aircraft leasing co-investment vehicle, Mustang Aerospace.

Boeing: local and regional banks to play bigger role in financing new aircraft deliveries

In its latest aircraft financing outlook Boeing says it sees steady progress towards reaching the previous record full-year delivery value, last seen in 2018, following a healthy delivery schedule across the industry in the first half of 2026. It sees greater participation by regional and local banks in new delivery funding as the higher level of deliveries extend into more regions around the world.
