Avolon establishes commercial paper programme

Having recently been rewarded for its strengthening earnings profile, credit fundamentals and increased scale with a credit upgrading from S&P in May, Avolon has moved to establish a $1.5 billion commercial paper programme. The lessor, in its latest quarterly update reported it finished Q2 2026 with total available liquidity of c.$11.8 billion, with the newly established CP programme set to further diversify its funding sources. The latest financing move from Avolon comes as leading lessors, including Avolon, DAE and AerCap report strong results for the first half of the year.

ORIX Aviation enters the aftermarket segment with AerFin deal

ORIX Aviation is to expand its service offering to include aviation aftermarket services following the announcement of a deal to acquire UK-headquartered aviation aftermarket specialist AerFin. Described as a milestone by the lessor, the deals sees it bring aftermarket expertise in-house allowing it to have greater control over end-of-life options for its owned and managed portfolio and positions it to benefit from strong and growing demand for parts as many operators keep their aircraft in-service for longer due to the years-long tight supply of new aircraft and engines.

Debut deal for Halo as two loan ABS issuances hit the market

Halo AirFinance has launched its first ABS deal with the specialist aviation lending platform in the market with an aviation loan ABS, while Volofin has just made its second aviation loan ABS issuance in what is already a record year for issuance in the aviation ABS markets.

ITOCHU to join Tokyo Century as joint-owner of Aviation Capital Group

The deal sees ITOCHU take a 50% share of the California-based Aviation Capital Group and values the lessor at almost $4 billion. The new joint owners have outlined ambitious plans to scale ACG with a target of becoming a top 5 global aircraft lessor. This is the latest move by ITOCHU Corporation in the aviation finance space, coming on the back of its investment in mid-life aircraft leasing specialist Sirius Aviation in recent months.

DAE completes Macquarie AirFinance acquisition in 'momentous' first half to 2026

Dubai Aerospace Enterprise has become the third largest aircraft lessor following the closing of its deal for Macquarie AirFinance with an owned and managed fleet of around 850 aircraft. DAE has been one of the main players in the recent consolidation of the aircraft leasing sector and has grown its scale rapidly thanks to the 2025 acquisition of Nordic Aviation Capital, which brought its owned and managed fleet to around 650 aircraft, and this latest deal for Macquarie AirFinance. Following the closing of the deal DAE also has open orders and other commitments for another 150 aircraft.
