Ashland Place and DAE deals signal uptick in pace of issuances

While evolving tariffs and trade policies put the brakes on aviation ABS issuance for a 3 month period across Q1 and Q2, the latest flurry of issuances, including Ashland Place’s record-low spread aviation loan ABS, DAE and PIMCO’s third issuance through the Navigator platform and PK AirFinance’s largest aviation loan ABS, keeps the market on course for one of its biggest issuance years to date.

Boeing, Embraer book major orders

Boeing rounded out a strong September for new order announcement with a major agreement with Turkish Airlines as well as significant deals with Norwegian and Uzbekistan Airways. These added to early September announcements with WestJet and Macquarie AirFinance, as momentum behind the OEM's recovery translates into increased new orders. Meanwhile, Embraer announced major deals with LATAM Group and Avelo for its E195-E2 jet.

Record high load factors for August, global air passengers could break 10 billion mark in 2026

The latest monthly passenger data from IATA shows that passenger demand grew by 4.6% in August which saw the load factor for the month reach a record 86%. Meanwhile the latest World Airport Traffic Report from ACI World predicts passenger numbers for 2025 will reach 9.8 billion, up from 9.4 billion in 2024.

The 2025 ABS market is fully back on track after the early year issuance momentum was knocked-back by the uncertainty around shifting trade policies and tariff threats. AviLease is planning debut corporate bond issuance

Saudi-based lessor AviLease is set to reach another milestone as it pursues its plan to become one of the world’s leading aircraft lessors. Reuters reports the company has held talks with investment banks about an inaugural bond issuance. Earlier this year the lessor, which is owned by the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund PIF, secured investment grade ratings from Moody’s and Fitch.

Current tech aircraft to remain central well into 2030s

New technology aircraft will remain in the minority across the global commercial jet fleet until the 2030s with current technology aircraft making up a notable proportion of the global fleet into the late 2030s, while on the trading front lessors are expected to trade over 700 aircraft across 2025, the latest analysis from IBA Aviation shows.
