People Moves: GECAS appoints former GE and Milestone exec Jonty Nel as new Commercial lead, based out of Dubai

26th February 2020: Jonty Nel has been appointed as GECAS' EVP Commercial – International, with the responsibility for executing strategies across several regions including EMEA. He will take up the role from April 2020. Based in GECAS' Dubai office, he will have also have responsibility for GECAS’ Cargo business and Airline & Fleet Strategy team.

In this role, Nel will be responsible for building and executing GECAS’ commercial strategies across a number of regions, platforms and teams including Asia-Pacific, MAC, Europe & Canada, and Latin American & Caribbean regions, as well as GECAS’ Cargo business and Airline & Fleet Strategy team. Nel will also join the GECAS Leadership Team and will be based in the Dubai office.

Jonty Nel: as a former member of the GECAS team for over ten years, Nel, held various commercial and leadership roles including MAC Regional Manager, Milestone Aviation Commercial Integration Leader, and SVP - Commercial, Emerging Markets for Milestone Aviation.


With more than twenty years’ experience in aviation finance, he first joined GE in 1999 to lead GE Capital's corporate aircraft leasing and financing efforts in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. As a former member of the GECAS team for over ten years, Nel, held various commercial and leadership roles including MAC Regional Manager, Milestone Aviation Commercial Integration Leader, and SVP - Commercial, Emerging Markets for Milestone Aviation.
